My trip to Glamis feb 2010

Postby duneman101 on Tue Mar 09, 2010 8:27 am

Hey Ladies,

Thought i would share some of these pics with yall, I love the dunes if you didn't know that...

Finally got some of the pics developed from the glamis trip back in feb, they aren't that great and the camera that had most of my good action shots and debauchery was ruined by rain, so i ended up with these...

on the way down, had this tire blow out on me just outside blythe it delayed our arrival by about 1 and a half hours, because my bro decided to buy another new spare.

Image

this was camp, missing a few bikes though for an early morning ride

this was on top of olds on the trail bike.

see the guy in front thats me on the duner, i was kickin ass and taking names at the china wall, i need better suspension though because most of the 4 strokes were killing me in the whoops...

Image

there are some hella expensive machines out there, at one point sitting at china wall we figured there were at 1 million dollars worth of sand rails and sand trucks sitting around us... the sand trucks were a crew of old dudes they are at the very top of the dune, the rails sat at the bottom...

My buddy is gonna send me some more i will try to load them up when i get them.

let me know before you buy, i can get one in bits and pieces from a friend in michigan for next to nothing, that way you can put it together the way you like it, this is my 3rd bansh i am getting good at it... i have a grand total of $1200 tied up in this one, and $600 is just from the front and rear sand tires and rims... it rips good.

That looks like some good times.
I've never been on the dunes, My ATV is more for trail riding but I would love to try that sand with the right toy

Nice pics, I went down there for Thanksgiving a few years ago, that place gets wild. Is that a 250R sitting by the trailer.

It is indeed, a good old bike, it's my bro's i blew it up 12 years ago and it's been sitting his garage since, i decided to buy a motor for it, it runs like a champ, we blew it up good again though, he thought he jetted it, it was really lean, we thought it was just the added compression, but needless to say, we are sure there is a big ole hole in the top of the piston now.

Just a few more...

staying this long takes a lot of fire wood, i think we could have built a small cabin.

And of course a big fire pit to enjoy some beers.

the whoops got pretty bad after a couple days, you can see they go half way up the hill, not cool on a stock suspension banshee.

Image

one big ass sand box, Heaven better be like this!

Hey Duneman I take it you visit Little Sahara too? We usually go out with quite a large group every Memorial and LAbor Day weekends. We should get together some time if you go on one of those weekends. We usually stay out at White Sands to avoid the big crowds but it's still a riot. I only have trail quads now cuz the Banshee got sold but we still get around fine, just not as fast anymore.

That looks like a blast. Are the dunes really as hard on your bikes as everyone says? I want to take mine but dont really want to rebuild the top end.

NO i rebuild my banshee once every 3-5 years... Bikes only run as well as they are maintained, if you have a solid bike it will do fine in the sand.

yeah it's down on the border of mexico, but it's in california, about 30-45 minutes west of Yuma, AZ.... i only put on pants at night, and that was so the fire didn't burn the leg hairs off of my drunk ass, i learnt that trick a long time ago. i was in shorts and flip flops when i wasn't riding.
